Icicle Valley Protection Alliance
The group formed in January 2004. We are concerned local citizens who oppose the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Lab (DUSEL) to be developed in and around Mt. Cashmere, under the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area and the National Forest within Icicle Canyon.
We are a varied group of local people; irrigators, farmers, water users, home owners, business owners, environmentalists, recreationists, fishermen, teachers, taxpayers, sportsmen, tourists, orchardists, engineers, Forest service employees and more.
We want to make sure that all information about the DUSEL proposal is shared with the public. This includes information that shows the real risks of the DUSEL project and the problems of maintaining it in the future. We believe there would be severe and irreversible negative impacts on our community and the Icicle Valley.
There are better locations for DUSEL than in one of the most popular recreational and scenic areas in Washington state.
